Rugby East Releases 2023 Fall Schedule
The Rugby East Conference today announced the 2023 Fall season schedule.
Moving into Year Two of the expanded Rugby East Conference, this year's schedule introduces Life University to our competition and provides a more formal grouping for our teams. Rugby East will divide up into two geographic divisions, North and South. Each program will play all opponents within their own division and up to two cross over matches from the opposite group. Army, Kutztown, Navy and St. Bonaventure will each play seven total conference matches; five divisional matches and two non-divisional crossover matches - one home / one away. The remaining programs will each have six total conference matches, with Notre Dame College and Penn State only having one non-divisional crossover match. This clear separation allows our Conference to provide a better fan experience for understanding the competition when following their favorite teams.
The 2023 conference season begins with Penn State heading to Army, Kutztown at St. Bonaventure and Southern Virginia traveling to Mount St. Mary's on September 16. The remaining Rugby East schools begin action on September 23.
Other exciting rivalry matches to watch include St. Bonaventure at Army on September 23, Mount St. Mary's at Mary Washington on October 7, Notre Dame College will host a follow up of last season's thriller against Kutztown on October 14, and Penn State battles Mary Washington for the Sheehy Cup on October 21. The season culminates with a traditional rivalry on Saturday, November 11, as the 2021-2022 National Champions Army Black Knights host 2022-2023 National Champions Navy Midshipmen at the Anderson Rugby Complex in West Point, NY.
